So…our little plumbing adventure yesterday with the water heater got more complicated. When checking all the connections, the installer noticed that we may have an almost-undetectable gas leak where the gas line comes up from under the house and splits to feed the furnace and the water heater. So, he crawled under the house to take a closer look…and found that we have a hole in the P-trap for the shower drain in the master bath, and that we've effectively been draining water under the house for God knows how long. And it's done a number on the insulation under the subfloor, too, which is damp. Which could possibly mean mold.
Can I scream now?
