@konrad Exactly. Combine a respect for order with a drive for efficiency and a truly evil regime, and what happened was inevitable. Many people compartmentalized their thinking to some degree, which allowed them not to think about the horrors that were being carried out as a result of their timely reports and accurate inventories. Add to that the same historical and casual (and sometimes not so casual) antisemitism that afflicted much of Europe, as well as thinking along the lines of, "I am a patriotic German, and I do not agree with everything that is being done but I love my country," and you can see how otherwise decent men and women made the moral compromises that allowed them to coexist with aggressive war and industrialized murder.
