@hazardwarning Amtrak is reasonably roomy, but the schedules are erratic because the tracks are mostly owned by the big freight railways like BNSF, so Amtrak trains don't have priority. I've never been to the UK but have had good experiences on the continent with SNCF and Deutsche Bahn.
