@jextxadore It was a bit too subtle to register in my brain, which is already overloaded by a project at work. It's been one of those weeks.
@gtwilson Related: I'm reviewing OEM websites for work today, in case you were wondering. :-)
@gtwilson Sadly, most people today seem to lust after mildly disguised trucks with a ton of gadgetry.
And on the luxury sedan end of things, it's mostly stretched versions of existing production cars, with ridiculously sybaritic details. The Mercedes-Maybach is a stretched S-Class that comes with friggin' throw pillows, for God's sake. And the details are so over the top that the next logical step is going to be a car that offers customizable handjobs.
Sudden random thought: take any of the current crop of SUV "coupes" like the BMW X6 or Mercedes-Benz GLE, and park them next to a '55 Buick or a '49 Cadillac, and it's pretty obvious that we're just getting back to the days of big, high-riding 8-cylinder vehicles.
