Just got backup from a member of the executive committee (the guy who sets all of our corporate standards) for an ongoing dispute I'm having regarding programming standards. It's nice to be able to bring out the big guns when needed.

@jmreekes And conversely, the closest I usually get to an airplane here is looking out the window and seeing a 747 flying overhead on approach to LAX.
@jmreekes Good morning! Currently playing the part of a coffee-sucking, email-writing cubicle dweller.
@phoneboy And it happened before I had my coffee, too. Which might have something to do with the severity of my response, come to think of it. :-)
@gtwilson I don't like sending nastygrams, but I've learned that when someone steps outside the established process, you have to respond immediately and forcefully, or else it'll just keep happening. And since in this case it will require rework on my part, I'm not going to let that happen.
I've been at the office less than half an hour, and I've already had to issue a smackdown to someone via email. It's going to be another one of those days.

@phoneboy Indeed. Weighed about as much as an equal-sized chunk of steel, but solidly engineered. :-)

@thrrgilag For actual telephone purposes, I'm pretty sure the best one I ever had was the old cream-colored Bakelite Western Electric desk phone (with a dial) that was wired directly into the wall. On the other hand, the best mobile I've had is my current iPhone 6S.

@phoneboy Have you looked under the hood lately? A lot of cars come with a big plastic shroud over everything now. It should have a label that says, "No user-serviceable parts inside."
// @japchap @gtwilson @hybotics
@thrrgilag It's unfortunate, but that's life. I don't know anyone in real life (i.e., meatspace) who uses a BlackBerry--and I work in corporate America, where BB and Palm used to reign supreme. BB and Palm are the AMC and Studebaker of the mobile phone business.
