@skematica US 101 shares the same route as CA 1 locally from Oxnard to the Lompoc exit north of Santa Barbara (just past the Gaviota Tunnel), and elsewhere across the Golden Gate Bridge and in a few other places.

Another one I like about whom you have probably not heard is Michael McCollum. He self-publishes through his website. [scifi-az.com] It's definitely hard sci-fi of the classical type (if you can use the word classical in relation to sci-fi).
