@schiffey "should be" <> "will be" :-)

@kdfrawg I'm hoping the sound of the Viking horn will be heard once again…

// @schiffey

It's working fine for me. <shrug>

@schiffey Oooohhh…

As the great Tom Lehrer once said, "Life is like a sewer; what you get out of it depends upon what you put into it."

I even use it with a Swiss .ch domain, just as an extra measure.

And when you find it, and access your email, it will be a LinkedIn request.

You might find this interesting: https://protonmail.com/security-details

//

I don't know how big the user base is, but it skews heavily towards tech geeks and those concerned about privacy. You can send/receive regular non-encrypted email from Protonmail to users of other services, so it's totally interoperable with everyone else.

And yes, they do own-domain email (I use my own domain with it).

FastMail uses US-based servers (hello, NSA!) and is just email (and years ago, they had a five-day outage when I was their customer). ProtonMail encrypts messages between Protonmail users, is Swiss-based so they're protected by Swiss privacy laws, and their servers are located 3000 ft. below the Swiss Alps in a bunker hardened against nuclear attack (just in case anyone worries about that, I guess). :-)
