@phoneboy Did both of those. Still wonky. I've got a backup cable around here somewhere I can swap it out for.
@phoneboy I've attempted to minimize the danger by putting all of my stuff in my corporate OneDrive account. But hey, it's all work-related, so if the vendor blows it up, I can shrug and say, "OK, give me another one."
The Lightning cable for the iPad at work has decided it will only charge if it's plugged into the iPad with a certain side up. :-/
Just got a notification for an appointment to swap out my laptop at work--on Friday the 13th. What could go wrong?
@phoneboy A friend of mine was ordered off coffee by his doctor because it was screwing with his glucose levels. Not surprised.
@kdfrawg Someone did a study a while back, and they found that most Mac users upgrade existing hardware, while most Windows users buy a new computer. I'm sure that's partly because Windows went a long time between updates for a while, but also because it's a hell of a lot less painful to buy a $400 laptop than a $2000 one.1

Yes, I know the two aren't equivalent, but that's a topic for a different day.
@kdfrawg I only did it because 1) it's the wife's computer, 2) she's resistant to change, and 3) we had no choice because Dropbox was going to stop working if we didn't. Personally, I'm of the opinion that if you really need to upgrade, your best choice is to buy a new computer. I'm very happy with my Windows 8.1 installation, and have no plans to move to Win10 anytime soon. I'll probably just buy a new laptop if it comes to that.

@kdfrawg As they say, that which does not kill you makes you stronger. ;-)

@kdfrawg In fairness, this was a leap from Mountain Lion to High Sierra, with a file system conversion to AFS to boot. Kinda surprised it worked, to tell the truth.
// @gtwilson
@gtwilson I sincerely hope I don't have to upgrade her computer again anytime soon.
