Most everything I wear regularly is cotton. There's just not that much need for wool in a Mediterranean climate zone.

I generally loathe synthetic fabrics. I mostly prefer cotton and wool for most things, and leather for shoes, belts and the like.

I have Crocs for the beach and the pool, but they don't give me enough support in the right places for normal wear.

I've always wondered why they're so popular in the Pacific Northwest for exactly that reason. Fortunately, I'm blessed/cursed to live in a dry climate.

The footbeds are cork, leather and jute, but the soles are EVA/rubber.

Time to start breaking them in…

The regular leather ones would probably do fine (such as the London model), but rain isn't really a major concern in southern California, for better or for worse.

They'll need to be waterproofed first. Birks in general don't like to get wet, and nubuck needs special care.

@skematica They're not cheap, but Birks tend to last a long time. They do take some breaking in, though…
