@jextxadore I use a VPN when I'm out, but not on my home network. It's already a slow enough connection that I can't afford to take the hit a VPN would impose.
@jextxadore So far it hasn't been a major problem here, but it is a tad annoying. Seems to be worse when I'm using a VPN.
@kdfrawg There are obviously different points of view, but my use of tablets is essentially restricted to video streaming/viewing. I wouldn't use more than a bare sliver of what an iPad is capable of, so I see no point in paying money I don't have for things I won't use. For fifty bucks, I got something that for almost a year now has been outstanding for what I want it for. For my use case, it's the best value out there. YMMV.
As pleased as I've been with my damn-near-disposable $49 7-inch Fire tablet--it's been stellar for Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video--it looks like there's a new $89 8-inch HD model that just might be the sweet spot. Say what you like about Amazon's device quality and how it doesn't hold a candle to Apple's, but at these prices, who cares?
@kdfrawg Ohio, of course. AFAIK there's no Columbus in Maine. :-)
Now, Las Vegas, there you have a choice (friends in New Mexico, you see…)

@kdfrawg I have family from Maine, so I never assume. :-)
