So, I blogged about Vin Scully and it got liked on Twitter by a pub in Newcastle. The Internet is weird.

@matigo Yep. His last broadcast is on September 25, an away game in San Francisco. It's a big enough deal that the freaking Giants are preempting their own announcers to broadcast his play-by-play during the third inning. Totally unheard of.
On the last night of summer, I just walked out my back door and heard the voice of Vin Scully broadcasting a Dodger game.
You probably have to be an Angeleno to truly understand, but it makes me sad that I won't hear that sound for much longer. I'm not even a baseball fan, but his voice has been the soundtrack of summer my whole life.
Somehow, that makes it feel not just like the last night of summer, but the last night of an era.
Our friend Keitaroh Kobayashi1 (@keita) has seen macOS Sierra, and he's not having any of it. @x

But not Maru ?
@kdfrawg Not yet. I've checked out pricing and plans, but because it would require a service call, routing of cable, and installation of a jack where there currently is none, I'm holding off. Right now I can't really afford the time off work to be there for installation, nor am I eager for the disruption. What we have is functional enough for now. It's on the table for later consideration, though.

@kdfrawg I'd use a VPN at home if I had a faster connection. As it is, though, I'm confident enough in my home network's security to run without one.

Managed to pre-order an e-book through Amazon that isn't supposed to be available in the U.S. yet (because the U.S. publishing rights haven't been sold yet--got that straight from the author, who's a Twitter friend).
I wonder if it will actually go through…

@gtwilson As well as being unkind to botanists with an interest in Brassica napus.
Google it. :-)
