@kdfrawg Apple stuff is beautiful and works well, no doubt about it. But when I was shopping for a laptop, all I really needed was something that ran Calibre, and I'm not spending that kind of money to run Calibre.

@kdfrawg You usually get what you pay for, and my expectations of cheap devices are less than my expectations of expensive ones. Probably the best tablet I have is my $50 Fire. It's no Apple device, but it does what I want for almost nothing, and I have no complaints.

@indigo @kdfrawg is right. With Calibre doing the heavy lifting of removing DRM and converting, you can buy from anywhere and read on anything.

@matigo I can't see why it wouldn't be. If I had to put up with ads, I'd buy a Kobo or a Sony.
