@kdfrawg I've always loved that a guy who made tractors for a living got into an argument with Enzo Ferrari, and decided he'd show him how to build a proper GT car.

@kdfrawg The ladies can't resist a man with a Lambo. ;-)

@jws The funny thing is that it's printed on every Amphibia watch. All they had to do was look.

@jws Since Russian spelling is largely phonetic, it doesn't take much to make something hard to read.
/@kdfrawg
@kdfrawg It does, especially when someone transliterates into Cyrillic and clearly does not understand the alphabet. Instead of transliterating Amphibia as Амфибия, they chose Ампхибиа on the assumption that 1) ph = пх (it doesn't) and that 2) Russian uses it for the "f" sound (again, nyet). What they ended up with would sound vaguely like "Ampkhibia."

Deleted, without posting, a post on a forum about Russian watches in which I corrected someone's Cyrillic spelling.
The struggle is real…
@matigo The whole process takes less than five minutes. So much easier than driving to a bookstore.

@kdfrawg Amazon can't delete anything from your local file system. There have been cases where they deleted books from users' Kindles, but it's been a while.
I now buy epubs from Google or Kobo, and immediately import them into Calibre, which puts them in my Calibre library. My Calibre library is mirrored to a third-party cloud site, so everything is nicely backed up.
Then I convert to Kindle format for side-loading to my Kindle, with a few tweaks to suit my personal preferences.
