There's a book you can get in Esperanto called "Gerda Malaperis." It's a mystery designed so that the language starts out simple and gets more complex as you go along.

Verb conjugation is completely regular, as is most of everything else in Esperanto. Learn the accusative case, memorize the correlatives, and the rest is pretty much just vocabulary.

The nice thing about Esperanto is that it's flexible. Even if you aren't grammatically perfect, you'll be understood as long as you remember to add an N to the direct object. And Esperantists are pretty understanding about mistakes, since there are essentially no native speakers.
