I woke up around 3 AM to uh, do what fifty-one-year-old guys often have to do at 3 AM, and looked at my phone to see if ADN was still up. When I saw that it had been taken down, I wasn't able to get back to sleep. While I think the platform was long past the point of needing to be replaced, it was also the best social media experience of my life, and it's where I met all of you wonderful people, so I feel a sense of loss despite that.

If you're on iOS, there's Macchiato in beta. is the dev. There's a link at 10c.larryanderson.org with more info on how to get into the beta.

Also: Welcome!

@kdfrawg I also think (unpopular opinion alert!) that it's a good thing they finally put it out of its misery. Now the people can move ahead and build things that are new and wonderful, like 10C and Pnut. The dream lives.

@kdfrawg I've essentially been saying the same thing--that the community is the people, and the network is just software. Software can be replaced.

For what it's worth, I agree that we have to give Bryan Berg a large amount of slack here. He tried to do the right thing by the users once the decision had been made to shut down the network, and we don't know exactly how that decision was reached. I'm all for shoveling blame onto Dalton for disappearing since the SOTU two years ago, but I'm not inclined to bury Berg under that mountain.

The dream is still alive. #10Centuries #Pnut

I was having a dream that my nephew's band got kicked out of a gig, and woke up to find that Berg finally pulled the plug.

Lekker slaap!

You people are giving me a craving for some deep-dish Chicago-style pizza.

I like the theory, but the practice is problematic. As evidence, I cite the entire rest of the Internet.
