If the pipes in the house break, it's my problem. If the pipes outside the house break, it's the responsibility of the owner of the park.

Whatever. I don't own the first five feet, then, let alone the mineral rights (which most people don't anyway). I live in what is called either a manufactured home or a mobile home1, depending on whom you ask.

  1. A misleading term, considering that it's anchored to the ground with earthquake bracing more securely than most conventional houses (thanks, FEMA!).

Also, I paid $113,500 for my house five years ago, but I don't own the land underneath it.

Honshu has 103 million people1. California has 39 million. We have more room. :-)

  1. Slightly less than one-third the population of the entire United States.

It's a big planet, but you live on a small and crowded island. :-)

@kdfrawg Also, for what it's worth, I turned over primary ownership of that group to Scott McIntyre. I didn't think it was working that well, but didn't want to kill it for those who found it useful.

@kdfrawg Slack was an experiment that didn't work out that well. There's nothing wrong with wanting to control your own experience. That should be a given.

// @10centuries

@kdfrawg You make a good point that there are times when you just want someone gone. Certainly I wouldn't want to make that impossible.

Finer controls are always good. I can imagine different scenarios for different situations.

I think what might be needed is another couple of levels:

  • Mute: Works like mute currently does.
  • Super-Mute: Mute, plus prevents mentions from that person.
  • Silence: Works like silence currently does, except it does not block mentions of that person by other people.
  • Block: Total and complete blocking of anything from that person or mentioning that person

Just my ¥2…
