Yet nobody stopped you. A friend of mine who lived in Tokyo while he was studying Japanese thought that people gave him more leeway in terms of behavior because nobody expects an ignorant barbarian gaijin to behave according to the rules. :-)

@kdfrawg Where I grew up, there was a street called Avenida de los Arboles. My late grandmother pronounced it as "Ar-bo-lees."

@kdfrawg It's harder to find a major city in California that doesn't have a Spanish name than to find one that does.
