They're probably about as well suited to your weather as Birkenstocks are. Maybe more so. Sheepskin is surprisingly water-repellent.

Uggs are common here, as they were originally a surfer staple (and I live in a beach town). They're also insanely comfortable and bloody expensive.

I agree. Birks aren't the most beautiful footwear ever made, but they are definitely the most comfortable. And one can argue that something unbelievably comfortable is beautiful in its own way. :-)

@kdfrawg These are enclosed Birks (the London), which I've never had before. I wanted some that I could wear to the office. My oldest pair of the normal sandals (the Arizona) are about 20 years old. They do last a long time.

Now to convince my wife that it was sensible for me to spend $120 for a pair of Birkenstock shoes since they were $40 off…

I've often wondered why Japan never just revalued the yen to shave off a few zeroes. Ditto for the former Italian lira.

It's weird to think that the ¥ was once divided into 100 sen.

Or 1:100? A 1:1 ratio would make Japan the most expensive place on Earth. ?

Weird. Neither I nor my wife have ordered anything, but this was stuck to our front door.

It's been a gradual shift that was not planned. I'm fine with it.
