On this day six years ago, I signed on to App.net for the first time. Little did I know I would meet people who would become good friends, and whom I still follow on diverse platforms. It was and remains the best online community I've ever been a part of. I love you folks.
@JeremyCherfas I'd find another source. It's clearly written to be antagonistic, and it misstates the nature of Eastern Orthodox communion, which is explicitly understood by believers to be the body and blood of Christ--the epiclesis makes that clear. It was obviously written by someone with an incomplete understanding of what they were writing about.
It's correct about the use of leavened bread, though. The photo shows the pieces of bread during the preparation by the priest, which takes place on the altar, behind the iconostasis. It will then be placed in the chalice with the wine, and the bread and wine combination will be given to each communicant on a silver spoon, placed directly in the mouth.
@c Not at all. I love that movie, and she was a big part of why I do.
That, and Ray Charles as the music store owner. So many great musicians who are no longer with us.
RIP Aretha Franklin. Respect.

I started following the Albuquerque Journal on Twitter, and half of their posts sound like an intro for a Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul episode.
"A block away, Mike Ehrmantraut lowers his binoculars and opens his flip phone. 'Yeah. It's done.' Cut to Gus Fring, who snaps his phone in half and drops it in a waste bin."
