Nope, don't have one. Looks like they're using a cheap generic quartz movement (nothing wrong with that, but it's cheeky to ask $250 for one--I could get a Seiko SKX009 for that). If they were using something better, they'd mention it. Have to admit I'm a bit selective--mine are either automatics (this is the majority), 262 MHz quartz (Bulova--I have 2, and the smooth-sweeping second hand is hypnotic), or solar quartz (Seiko and Citizen), except for one GMT watch that was a Christmas gift many years ago.

The thing with watch collecting is that it can get out of hand if you don't set some limits, and those are mine. That said, if you like the looks of it, you should get one. That's what it's all about. :-)

My wife is a loyal iPhone and Mac user, and she's used Google Calendar for several years. No reason not to use it if you like it (I do too).

If you want to know what it's like to get out of an air-conditioned car in that heat, just imagine stepping into your oven. Or a blast furnace. The best thing I can say about that part of California is that it can be beautiful in a stark way, but if you're driving through, don't get out of the car between April and November if you can help it.

I can't say that I blame you. I don't much care for it, either.

I'll never forget the guy I saw riding a bicycle uphill in Needles, California several years ago in the middle of summer when it was 48 degrees. I'd pulled off the highway for fuel, and just happened to see him passing by. Completely insane.

That's just miserable. Related: when I left the office on Tuesday, it was 40, which is unusual even for here. It's only 32 right now.

Indeed. Some things are best enjoyed when it's not so bloody hot. :-)

I would love a good thunderstorm here as well. It's been stupidly humid, and we're not getting the usual on-shore flow. My bedroom was still 27° when I woke up this morning, too, which is better than what you've had, but still too damn warm.

You know the climate is seriously messed up when the UK is the hottest place in Europe. That's like Seattle being hotter than Los Angeles.

Just got an email asking if I had any invoices floating around.

That's it, no specific projects mentioned. <head explodes>

I have a database with seven years' worth of invoicing data for every project this company has done in the Western Hemisphere and Europe. Specificity would be appreciated…

Especially when you consider that I spent $110 worth of it before cashing out. :-) I basically octupled my original investment. I wish I'd bought more.
