Dressed like a grown-up today (pressed khakis, starched shirt, leather shoes) because of a luncheon honoring my wife for 25 years of service at her clinic. Glad she's being recognized. Also glad I don't have to do this all the time.

My first career lasted 15 years, and I'm coming up on my 15th year in this one. And yes, the food service business is harder than you think it is. I devoutly hope I never have to go back to it.

Speaking of my brother, the boat deal fell through. The search continues.

Glad I can reassure you, and it's better to make a change than to spend your life being miserable. I only wish I'd done it sooner. My brother also just made a career change at 49 (thanks to a layoff), so anything's possible. :-)

In 1998, I quit my job managing a restaurant and went back to school. I transferred to UC Santa Barbara in 2001 when I was 35, and graduated two years later. Now I'm a field operations guy1 for a market research firm. So, no, it's not too late. :-)
