OK, looks like I can post to v5 from work now for some reason. Not going to complain.

Thanks, this helps. I've been too busy at work to fiddle with my DNS, but I'll see if I can grab a few minutes later today.

Gotta figure out what to do about larryanderson.org. Unless I'm missing something, creating a CNAME for the root domain will hose the MX record.

matigo.ca.

This is going to be a mess. CNAMEs on root domains are problematic. I'll wait for direction from .

blog.sumudu.me.

Also, larryanderson.org and larry.im are both throwing a 523 error with CloudFlare.

OK, that only seems to be true on the desktop. Stupid work firewall or policy or whatever.

Weird…I can log in using my V5 site, but not at nice.social.

The tax cut was always intended as a gift from the GOP to corporations and the wealthy. Anyone who was paying attention saw this coming, and saved ahead of time to pay the taxes (like I did).

In terms of doing it yourself, we have no choice here. The IRS expects us to figure out what we owe, and settle up. Like most Americans, I use commercial tax software to do mine (TurboTax in my case). It would be nice not to have to pay to use it, but I'm old enough to remember spending an entire day doing it on a paper Form 1040 with pencil and calculator, and a pile of different addtional forms and instructions, so having software that walks me through it in a couple of hours is a vast improvement.

We have payroll deduction here, but it does not include things like interest income, stock sales/dividends, rental property, etc. Additionally, this year's taxes were made more unpleasant by the Republican tax reform, which was accompanied by revisions to the withholding tables used by employers, and which for most people resulted in additional sums owed. My wife and I ended up owing about $3500 over and above what was deducted from our paychecks.
