@kdfrawg Oh, yes. There are quite a few. Fatherland by Robert Harris was brilliant, and I rather liked SS-GB by Len Deighton. And, of course, there's Man in the High Castle, which is in a class of its own.
On this day in 1990, the German Democratic Republic was unified with the Federal Republic of Germany. Since today is officially the Day of German Unity, it seems a good time to repost this bit of alternate history from the archives, as a reminder that history is neither inevitable nor predetermined:

Just realized I woke up this morning for the first time in my life to a world where the Dodgers' announcer isn't Vin Scully. Seems wrong.
Got some email forwarded from my long-ignored ISP email account that was obviously intended for someone else, so I investigated. Turns out the unused email account I had with my ISP was run through Yahoo, so had to jump through hoops to figure out how to get in so I could change my password. Couldn't be any longer than 24 characters and only a very limited (hyphen and underscore) subset of special characters. Good thing I don't actually use it for anything.
@kdfrawg Please tell me you have real maple syrup to go with that.
