Went to the office this morning to try to catch up, got told I needed to leave because liability or something (office is officially closed today). Fine. Came home and Outlook refused to launch after three tries. Screw it. I am now officially all out of fucks to give, and will take the rest of the day off.
Was starting to feel a little shaky. Now I know why. @phoneboy will understand.
Fires are up to 35,000 acres (14K hectares), 150,000 people have been evacuated. No containment. It's going to be another long night.
@indigo Thanks! I'm safe at home, 20 miles from the nearest flames. My brother was able to confirm that my mom's house is still there, but it remains under mandatory evacuation. All friends and family are OK. Most of the fire has moved to the south and is racing across the Santa Monica Mountains towards Malibu and the coast.
@matigo Intense is the understatement of the year. This is a goddamn conflagration.
Update: I'm safe in Ventura, but my mom's house is under mandatory evacuation orders and fire was about 1/4 mile away as of two hours ago. My mom, brother, and nephew have evacuated to his boat in Ventura Harbor. My office is under evacuation and is closed indefinitely. I cannot f*****g believe the last 48 hours.
Basically everything north of the 101 on this map is now under evacuation orders. My office is the blue pin.
