@literary You don't sound dumb. Don't even think that. What you're experiencing is anxiety that is normal when you've been unemployed for a while. But you'll do just fine when you find a job..
You want to know what hell is? It's a conference call originating from an echo-y glass-walled conference room. Can't understand a damn thing anyone is saying.
@literary It's low, but you're not going to command the same salary in rural Iowa that you would in San Diego, because the cost of living is lower. Also, it's someplace to start. It's not that long ago that I was making $35K/year, and in a much more expensive part of the country.

@kdfrawg We are entering uncharted territory. I'll pay attention through the conventions, but will be dialing back on politics afterward. News from the rest of the world will probably become a once-a-day summary review like it was before the Internet. I just wish I still had Peter Jennings to tell it to me.
And if Trump wins, I'll probably just go into an off-line internal-vacation mode the way they used to do it in East Germany. I've got a lot of books.
