Red tape always lessens the higher you go. Once you reach a certain level, it disappears.

Of course, it isn't always consistent. I can approve payment on a six-figure invoice from a vendor, or increase a purchase order by $5,000 if needed, but I'm still supposed to go through someone else to buy notepaper or a new keyboard. On the other hand, last time I needed a keyboard, I just tacked it onto an office supply order and it got automatically approved, so…
