New Post: Predictions [larryanderson.org]

Yup. I've got a cousin who posts the most offensive crap on Facebook, but we get along fine (mostly) in person. It's like two different people. It's far too easy to ignore social conventions when you're behind a keyboard and not across a table.

Part of the problem is that there is no longer a shared agreement on what constitutes reality. I'm not sure there's a way to fix that that I'll live to see completed.

There are no guarantees anywhere, but there are places where at least you know you'll have health care and some kind of retirement when the time comes, and where people still outnumber guns.

Honest to God, if I were a young guy with no attachments, I'd seriously consider emigrating. Even if we're able to reverse course, it's going to take years to undo the damage.

Yep. I did not think I would ever be living in the last months/years of the United States as a functioning democracy. I am not optimistic about the future here.

As a fellow Canadian, surely you must realize that Jason is much more likely to be spending his millions on beer, daily international overnight delivery of Tim Hortons, and unlimited HD streaming of Hockey Night in Canada.

I'm feeling generous this morning.

You do realize that you're probably already on a watch list, right?
