Got this in the mail today. Boy, do they have the wrong guy. ?
@kdfrawg Indeed. I'm torn between taking it someplace to get it serviced, and just putting a new strap on it and wearing it so as not to mess with the capricious watch gods who seem to be smiling upon it.
So… I was looking through a box earlier this morning that has a bunch of stuff I inherited from my uncle several years back. One of the things in the box was this shock-resistant, antimagnetic Waltham automatic that I figure dates back to the late 1940s or early 1950s, based on the dial design. I picked it up, looked at it, turned it over a couple of times, and set it down…and after what must be decades of sitting in a box (I never saw him wear it), it STARTED RUNNING. Apparently that was enough activity to trigger the self-winder. It's still running now, keeping good time, three and a half hours later. Amazing.
@kdfrawg In my VW, the reset button is in the glovebox. Press and hold, and bingo. Sometimes lower-end cars are less frustrating. ?

@kdfrawg That's an extremely common problem, and tends to be worse in cold weather. My Jetta is having the same issue right now. I just check the pressure with my gauge, reset the indicator, and forget about it.
