Here's how things should be handled, in order of escalation, in The World According to Larry:

  1. Email
  2. Phone call
  3. Conference call
  4. Actual meeting (where you sit down)

Ain't nobody got time to stand around listening to people talk about stuff that doesn't involve you.

Every stand-up I've ever been in ends up delving too deeply into one thing or another, which is annoying. I am convinced that there's nothing in a properly run stand-up that can't be done in a Slack team or email update.

Most people do stand-ups wrong. There is an argument to be made that if you're doing a stand-up at all, you're doing it wrong.

There's a guy wandering around the office with muttonchops and round granny glasses. I have an overwhelming urge to ask him how things are going in 1971.

He's an American, so I figure it's 50/50.

I also posted it on Facebook. I have a (much younger) friend who lives in Munich and I want to see if he gets it.

But the right people will get it. ?

This is the best thing I've seen all day.

Just got a mention on Twitter from one of my favorite authors. <squee>

I've been lucky enough to travel in both Ontario and Québec, but my favorite trip to Canada was back in 1993 when I took a solo road trip up to Vancouver and Victoria. Made a point of using public transit in Vancouver, and ended up having some lovely chats with friendly people. That's probably why Vancouver is my favorite city in North America. That, and the incredible scenery.
