@gtwilson The idea is to have a language with dead simple grammar and regular spelling that can be learned in a fraction of the time. I just study it for fun, because I'm weird that way.
Just finished The Black Widow by Daniel Silva, the sixteenth and latest book in the Gabriel Allon series.
I'm generally a fan--I've read them all--but this one was a bit disappointing in that the casual reader could easily get the impression that many, if not most, Muslims support ISIS.
I understand that a series that revolves around the exploits of an Israeli spy won't exactly be neutral when it comes to the Middle East, but this was a bit off-putting. I know far too many wonderful and wise people who happen to be Muslims to buy into such a slanted narrative.
@kdfrawg Possibly my favorite bumper sticker of all time is the classic, "All parts falling off this car are of the finest British workmanship." I've seen that on a Jag or two.
@kdfrawg It has been observed that there was nothing actually wrong with British cars of the past. It's just that they were designed and built for a place with a cooler, damper climate and mostly two-lane roads. Then, they were brought to a place where we expect them to run flat-out in 90 degree weather for hours at a time. No wonder they had problems.
I am reminded of the famous three-position Lucas headlamp switch:
- Dim
- Flicker
- Off
I find it vastly amusing that a prototype Ford F-150 powered by a Jaguar Land Rover diesel engine was able to be photographed because it broke down with a wiring problem.

A British engine? With electrical issues? Unheard of. :-)
Joseph Lucas, the Prince of Darkness, lives on!

@kdfrawg I have had a lot of experience with this subject, and while my own tendency (developed over many years as a self-defense mechanism) is to be philosophical about it, it never gets easier.
