@hazardwarning Indeed. The ophthalmologist who did the surgery is a doctor twice over, with an M.D. and a Ph.D. She did nice work. :-)

@hazardwarning I'm now 20/15 in the left eye and 20/20 in my right eye. They used toric lenses which fixed the astigmatism, and optimized it for distance, so I need reading glasses. To avoid the need to carry reading glasses everywhere, I use progressive (multifocal) lenses, which are basically clear glass on top, and they work well.

@hazardwarning Runs in my family (sigh). My dad had cataract surgery in his forties, and so did I. I'm grateful that modern cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure that's nothing like what he went through in the 1960s.

@hazardwarning I had the same experience as Peter. Having cataract surgery in both eyes fixed my astigmatism nicely.
